I want to be a preschool teacher. I have a passion to teach children. Most people say they could not handle taking care of children, but I find it fun. I have a 2-year-old sister and a niece who will soon be one. I often take care of them, so that is how I choose my job because I enjoy taking care of them. I have to know how to “Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to children”.-OhioMeansJobs. Also I need to know “The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand”- OhioMeansJobs to become a preschool Teacher. Before career day I did not realize how money really worked. I did not know that when you get something like a car or a house you must get insurance. Career day was very eye opening. When I went to reality store I learned a lot of useful information. I use to think that you got a house for a certain amount of money then it was yours. Now I realize you should get insurance and you have to decide to rent or own and rent is monthly payments until the house is paid off. Also when you get a car you have to make the same decisions. I do now appreciate my parents more. I never thought of the things I do have and that they did not just magically appear. My parents had to put lots of labor into getting the necessities and non-necessities that I have today. Although they did not get to hear about what I wanted to be I thought that I got a great opportunity to learn about other jobs that could be useful if my plans do not work out. I got to learn about a physical therapist. I found that fun because it is my backup job. I know I have my mind set on being a preschool teacher, but if things happen wrong I will need to land a job. I definitely want to at least land a job that has to do with helping. I love helping people if that means a doctor, counselor, teacher, or physical therapist I want to help people. This experience was very helpful to my future. I now know that life cannot be handed to you.
When I went around the different stations I realized just how much things cost. I had very little money in the beginning while my friend Candice had a great amount. I choose the cheapest haircut, Cheapest home, cheap car, and cheap phone and this later helped. I ended up having enough money to buy a new house and get nicer things. My friend did not spend her money as wisely and she was in a good amount of debt. I got everything I needed and still had a good amount of money plus my savings. She ran out of money because of her big house an nice car and she did not have enough money to get the things she needed because she did not think about what she was doing and did not spend her money with cushion. The reason I got small things like small house and car was so that when I knew I had all the things I needed money left over would go to get nicer things and I still ended up with over 100 dollars an over 200 in my savings.
I feel like the career fair really showed how you can start making changes to your life now by getting good grades to get a good job. You should put priorities first and spend your money wisely. It also showed just how much you're parents do and how it affect your life, so you do not realize that they have to pay for a lot more than you think. It seems to us that you're parents every week buy groceries and do something nice with the family, so it does not seem as though they spend much money, but in reality that spend much more than you think. Next time you're parent say they don't have money for that you should probably listen for your own benefit. Definitely watch how you spend and spend your money wisely is what I learned.
